How to use BitTorrent
Using BitTorrent is a bit different than using other peer-to-peer file sharing applications because it does not have its own search capabilities within the client itself. Instead, you can use the world wide web to search for BitTorrent files (they are files with the ending .torrent). Once you find a torrent file and click to download it, the BitTorrent client you are using will activate.
There are several "BitTorrent sites" from which you can download different types of BitTorrent files. Using your favorite search engine, simply enter the type of torrent file you are looking for and most of the top torrent file sites will appear. That is the easiest way to start your search.
Once you find the file(s) you are searching for, click on the file to save it on your computer. Then, click on the saved file and your BitTorrent client will activate and allow you to open the file.
Important note for new BitTorrent users: it is important to note that there are .torrent files that contain legal copies of files such as movies, music, and software that are meant to be downloaded and distributed via the BitTorrent protocol, and there are those that are pirated copies. By knowingly downloading pirated movies, music, software, and other copyright material, you subject yourself to possible legal action from the campanies and organizations that represent the movie, music, and software industries that are being pirated. It is highly recommended that you do not participate in the downloading of illegal material in any way, and if you do and you get caught, don't say we didn't warn you!.
