Uploading and Downloading Torrent Files
The BitTorrent protocol involves downloading a particular torrent file, while also uploading parts of the same file simultaneously. The parts of the file(s) that you have already downloaded are uploaded to other peers. Essentially, your bittorrent client is actively trading the pieces of the file you have with the pieces other peers have.
To make files available to others, you must first create a .torrent file to upload to a server, and then seed the file. Unlike other peer-to-peer file sharing systems such as Kazaa, you do not use a shared file directory where others can come and retrieve files.
Does BitTorrent support resuming?
BitTorrent does support resuming by verifying the partial download. So, as long as the download and the partial download are saved in the same place, your client will resume where it left off.
